Matthew Cephus was told by a member of his own family that he would never amount to anything and would someday die on the street. But God had a very different plan for Matthew’s life.
After meeting in the midst of the brutal Liberian Civil War, Matthew and his new wife Patience found themselves kneeling in prayer around their honeymoon bed. The sum total of their net worth was laying in front of them …just ten dollars. They were feverishly seeking God’s direction and hoping to get out of the country for their safety and educational opportunity.
And God spoke…
Matthew Cephus leading the youth in song and dance. (God moved 57 youth responded to the Gospel at this one event and they continue in local discipleship.)
Matthew, hearing clear direction from the Lord, spent their $10 to travel to a specific intersection that God had impressed on his heart. Just as he arrived a friend driving by saw him and waved him over. Apologizing for not being able to make it to their wedding, this man said that he had a wedding gift for them which just so happened to be the exact amount of money they needed to take the next step in their journey. And so, they did…
Later on, when Matthew and Patience had their first child they named her Faith. Their names would come to represent God’s powerful work in their life.
Yet, when they first got connected with LINC Twin Cities they were at a crossroads of faith again.
Matthew was established in Minnesota and discipling others in Biblical teaching but felt a deep need to further his personal study of the Bible and to connect to a family of believers that stood firmly on the Word of God. This is a similar story to many of our mission leaders who have limited access to education and ministry training.
Matthew needed people who could pour into him.
Today Matthew is not alone in ministry. He is a part of our
growing LINC Twin Cities family. This year, LINC’s
support network has opened opportunities for him to:
Bring Biblically rooted training to the many leaders he is discipling here and in Liberia.
Begin formal theological education via a distance learning seminary program.
Connect with fellow LINC leaders for prayer and encouragement.
Develop his ministry plan and know that we will walk with him every step of the way to accomplish it.
This impact is only possible with the help of people like you!
When you support LINC Twin Cities you are investing in the transformation of our community with the Gospel. Our vision is big and so our are needs to accomplish it. Thank you for your partnership in this great work!
